Dermatology Team
Our Dermatologists work with one of the most competent and accessible teams in the area and are Board Certified in Dermatology, while our Dermatology Physician Assistants and Dermatology Nurse Practitioners are trained in Dermatology and supervised by our Physicians. We offer medical, surgical, pediatric and cosmetic dermatology. Professional affiliations include: American Academy of Dermatology, American Osteopathic College of Dermatology, Mohs Surgery College, Marion-Polk County Medical Society, Mid-Valley Independent Physician Association, Salem Hospital Staff Appointments, Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants, American Academy of Physician Assistants, Oregon Dermatology Society, Oregon Society of Physician Assistants, Oregon Society of Dermatology Associates, and the National Psoriasis Foundation.

R. John Young, MDDr. Young, Board Certified Dermatologist, was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana and earned his bachelor’s degree at Louisiana State University, where he was valedictorian of 2000 graduates. He earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas while on a US Air Force scholarship. From there, he became a flight surgeon for the Air Force and was deployed to the United Arab Emirates for a short period of time. He then became the youngest officer in 20 years to be accepted into the dermatology residency program in San Antonio, Texas. Before settling in Oregon in 2006, Dr. Young served as a staff dermatologist in Biloxi, Mississippi at the time hurricane Katrina devastated the region. He practices medical, surgical, pediatric, and cosmetic dermatology. |
William Lear, MD
Dr. Lear, Board Certified Dermatologist,
and Mohs Surgeon,
earned his MD from the University of Toronto and
completed Residencies in both Family Medicine and
Dermatology while there. He also served as Dermatology
Chief Resident and was presented with the National Teaching
Award. He recently completed, at the University of
Washington, a Fellowship in Mohs Surgery (Procedural
Dermatology).
He is the first Fellowship Trained Mohs Surgeon in the
County and specializes in skin cancer removal and
reconstruction of resulting defects using flaps and grafts
when needed. |

Kyle Horner, MD, MSDr. Horner, Board Certified
Dermatologist and Mohs Surgeon, earned his MS and MD from the |
Mark Williams, PA-CMark Williams is a Dermatology Physician Assistant; he graduated from Oregon Health and Science University in 1998. He has now been practicing medicine for 10 years, initially in Primary Care and ultimately changing his focus to Dermatology. Before becoming a Physician Assistant, Mark was a medic in the Navy and an EMT. |

Jason Ling, MPAS, PA-C Jason Ling graduated from Linfield College with Honors in
1993 and Oregon Health and Science University in 1994 with a
degree in Medical Technology. After graduation, Jason
worked as a laboratory medical technician on the Oregon
Coast. His work in the Health Care arena convinced him
to pursue a career where he could interact more directly
with patients, so he attended Oregon Health and

Rachel Pulver, RN, MSN, FNP Rachel Pulver, a Family Nurse Practitioner, completed her
nurse practitioner coursework at Washington State University
in 2009. Born and raised in the northwest, Rachel received
her Associated degree and RN in 2003 from Clark College. She
later completed her Bachelors in nursing in 2007, and a
Masters degree with honors in nursing education in 2008 from
Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. Rachel has had
a broad range of nursing experience including: ER, ICU,
hospice, cardiology, family practice and teaching nursing at
Clark College. She now enjoys her focus in dermatology with
Silver Falls Dermatology.

Charla Staggs, PA-C, MSPAS, MPHCharla has been practicing as a physician assistant since 2006. She is board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. Charla earned her Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science from Arizona State University and a dual Masters Degree in both Physician Assistant Studies and Public Health from Touro University-CA. Charla is a Portland native who relocated back to the Pacific Northwest four years ago. She has a broad range of clinical experience including cardiothoracic surgery, general surgery and gastroenterology. She joined our team in 2011 to meet the needs of our growing patient population and couldn’t be more thrilled to be focusing on dermatology with Silver Falls. |
Deborah Gall, Aesthetician Deborah Gall has been a licensed Aesthetician
for over 25 years with 12 of those years as a plastic
surgery skin care specialist. She helps patients correct and
rejuvenate their skin by utilizing prescriptions, products
and treatments to create individualized skincare programs
that are truly effective. Deborah is also licensed in
Permanent Cosmetics, the method of creating beautiful brows,
eyeliner and lip color through the process of tattooing. She
further utilizes this to help breast reconstruction patients
recreate areola color. Deborah also does laser hair removal,
vein treatments, anti-aging, and skin tightening treatments,

Laura Bearham, RN, AD, InjectablesLaura graduated with an Associates Degree in Nursing from Chemeketa Community College in 1991. She has worked for Silverton Hospital for 18 years in a variety of areas and for the last four as a Nursing Supervisor. From 1998-2007 she worked for local plastic surgeon Dr. Carter as a Botox and Injectable RN. She joined Dr. Young’s practice in January of 2009. |
